Advanced Technologies For Manufacturing SMEs

The biggest shift will be in customer interface, transitioning from a personal sales relationship to a more automated business-to-business relationship where requests for quotes are automated through interactive website forms.

Cloud technology will be relied on more for collaboration and its reliability. As the CEO of a SaaS solution for SMEs & manufacturers to sell online, I’ve learnt that technological capabilities must mirror growth to handle the capacity.

Collaborative tools that enhance the intelligence of data in smaller organizations. E.g., SharePoint and Power BI are so easy to use, smaller organizations can afford what has been the project domain of Fortune 500 companies.

The biggest change we’ve been seeing and we will continue to see is that for the first time there is cost-effective and useful cloud based manufacturing software for SMEs.

We will see more OEMs start to build in IoT support for their products. The widgets they make will have to become more of a vessel for data collection and end-customer engagement rather than merely a physical object.

SME manufacturers are rapidly deploying high performance computing (HPC) systems to accelerate their virtual product development and testing in the competitive global marketplace, where innovation and time-to-market are critical.

Multi-party networks are enabling visibility, data sharing and collaborative execution in real-time across the entire value chain of business partners small and large – causing win-win relationships, and new levels of business performance.

The primary changes for manufacturers won’t be in process or engineering, but in customer acquisition and contact. Manufacturing will adapt modern marketing techniques, driven by chatbots and AI focused on customer lifetime flow.

In the next couple quarters, manufacturers will turn to augmented reality to visualize their prototypes at scale in the real world before going to production, saving them time and money.

Augmented Reality has really transformed how we communicate our output to our clients as they can see our furniture in situ prior to purchase.

Increased access to a greater range of affordable, industrial grade materials, suitable for cost-effective low-run production, and compatible with the new crop of lower-cost industrial Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing platforms.
